Difficulty
Easy · typically 5–10 min for a first-timer with basic tools.
Tools needed
None — fits by hand. Optionally a stylus brush and tracking-force gauge
Common mistakes to avoid
- Pushing on the cantilever instead of the stylus body — grip only the plastic housing.
- Not rechecking tracking force after replacement — set it to the cartridge spec, not "what looks right".
- Sliding the record player lid down with the tonearm unsecured right after the swap.
Fit the stylus with the turntable's cueing lever raised and the platter stationary. A gentle straight push until it clicks is all that's needed.
